There's a CRT on Dupont registry for $300k, they claim 1 of 2 in the US.

But in reality, the e36 m3 sedan is the best m sedan
e39m benefits over the e90m (not saying it's a better car, just listing benefits):
-interior space (especially if you have the non US dash in the e39)
-interior material quality
-all have no iDrive
-all 6mt
-dash aims at driver unlike e9X
-ride quality
-"easy" speed (torque)
-feels a ton faster 95% of the time
-quieter inside
-interior/exterior styling (technically subjective... but does anyone disagree?)

I think saying either is "better" is kind of missing the point-- they're designed to do different things.

CRT is kickass.

Also kind of meaningless in the quantity produced

You really think the interior quality is better on E39?

Without any reservation, absolutely yes. e9X looks/feels cheap IMO. On "comfort" interior e39s, everything you can see/touch is leather or alacantara (no exposed vinyl on the dash, door cards, back of seats-- anywhere).

And even the sport interior came with alcantara pillars/headliner/rear deck, leather center console, and textured leather seats:

I don't think it's remotely close. The e9X is one of the crappiest material quality and layout BMW interiors IMO (e36 is worse). The e39 is one of their best. I really can't comprehend anyone not thinking the e39 interior is vastly superior to the e9X interior, unless their sole definition of "better" is "newer". The e39's is a better looking layout, driver oriented, higher quality materials everywhere, quieter, and has more space.

... the cup holders are better on the e9X than the e39 (though they still suck on the e9X)

My e9x non-M interior was a nice place to be, never felt cheap to me. It certainly seemed to be of higher quality than my E46M interior, which is also a decent place to be other than the common wear areas which are somewhat annoying to look at when the light hits them.

i'd probably agree... e39 has a pretty nice interior. e9x has pretty bad interior design and touch quality (the structure of the interior holds up and wears well).

-I wouldn't call not having idrive a benefit though, CIC Idrive is pretty great IMO. Much better than the nav systems from e46/e39 era which are horrible.
-Lack of DCT sucks for e39... I know everyone here is a 6MT #racerbro #madfeelz but DCT is fukkin awesome and the option to have it is a great thing.
- E90 is also a pretty damn reliable car. Everyone will lose their shit over rod bearings and throttle actuators but big picture these are more reliable day in, day out than any M car before it.
-Steering is better on e90 (not saying much)
-s62 feels choked up top and doesn't actually rev much higher than a pushrod v8. Kinda feels like one actually.
-e90 is significantly lighter and smaller in dimensions.

Big difference for me is the looks. e90 is an ok looking car with the LCI update and comp package but its not in the class of an e39 M5. To actually use I would have the e90, but I would rather enjoy the e39 I think.
