SMG. I never really had much to gripe about with SMG in my E46. It was pretty trick imo. The M5 seems too big for a manual to be enjoyable.

Yep. Close to $60k. And that's with dealership owned extended warranty (both Penske) paying for it, so best part prices.

Two new exhausts, new engine, steering rack, starter, suspension components, throttle body, and a ton of labor costs.

I still loved that car.

Yep I remember!

And that doesn't include any iDrive stuff right? That stuff should be failing right about now and it's $thousands literally for those components. I lul pretty hard when I get calls from E60 owners (non ///M) where iDrive stuff costs more than their 528i is worth on KBB.

I had a friend with an E60 M5, iDrive went out to the tune of $5k. I can't remember if it was just parts, but it took the entire car with it when it went.

my old mechanic had 3 e60 minty m5s on the side of his garage...owners walked away after catastrophic failures...owners didn't know what to do with them and no takers.
