Yes, they require that.

^ And apparently the DD needs to be newer than the car being insured. So I would not be able to insure my 2001 M3 with Hagerty if my 1999 M3 is listed as my daily. But I could insure the 1999 M3 through Hagerty if the 2001 M3 is listed as a daily.

No USAA covers my Daily but since the two work hand in hand. Both give me multicar discount which offsets the fact I live 2 towns from a town that has crime and caused my rates to go back up when I moved back here this summer.

Have you talked to an agent? I wonder if it's something they can make an exception for since both cars are considered collector cars at this point. Maybe the 46 even more so.

Just a thought

Has anyone has an issue with a regular insurance, such as Statefarm or Allstate, and rare OE and aftermarket parts on top of the value of the car?

I have not. I have other, newer cars, so getting both M3s insured as collector cars won't be an issue. I'll probably get collector car insurance for the E36 and race car coverage for the E46.

I have State Farm but I'm considering a change. I tried to get an online quote from Hagerty but the site said I wasn't eligible. But it didn't say why... Maybe I'll try calling.

From my experience, they don't care what rare or aftermarket parts you have.

If totaled, they only look at the NADA value or a market value which they use very poor comparisons to drive the value down.

After all, they are in the business of making money.

I'd recommend calling. Their online system gave me quotes of $4-5k, but a human gave me a quote of $2k. Pretty significant difference for the same coverage.

Geico's CCC valuation report for my E46 was a total fraud. They compared my car with two other cars, one with 30k more miles than mine listed at, according to their report, $13k. Actual dealer's listed price was $15k. The other car didn't even exist. All I had to do was look at the VIN to know it was fake, but I confirmed with BMW NA. They also put the condition of my car down as average to poor for everything. They said the dash was cracking, paint in poor condition, shitty glass condition, stained carpets, leaking mechanical parts, etc. All of that was complete BS, and those ****s said my car had several leaks, which it didn't, without actually inspecting it from underneath. Offered me $12k for a car that's worth $18-20k.
