I consider Recaro to be the best and worth every penny. I've never sat in another brand of seat that I liked. Sparco is one of the worst I've been in.

I daily'd SRD's with the OEM brackets Braymond linked for many years. Best setup out there for an E36.

There are actually two versions; the "deep" version will lower the seat by 1-1.5" from stock. Standard bracket will be approximately the same.

I have the Sparco R100 and for the price, I cannot complain about them.

They are however, a bit uncomfortable for long drives.

You are probably correct about the sparco.

Its more a question of what are good cheap seats, if any. Or maybe you have to step up to mid priced seats like the $1000 Recaro Speeds, which is the replacement for the SRD. Sparco does make a very good seat but it is about $2500.

I recently completed swapping out the evaders with Recaro Speeds. I was able to get the Recaro brackets that use BMW seat bases for the driver's side almost right away, but the passenger side took over 10 months. For the first 3-4 months, Recaro would not respond to their distributor, then keep delaying until June of this year. (I ordered September of last year) Then finally, they decide to build them and ship a few (not sure how many). My guess is they don't build them until there is enough order, so you may get lucky and find it in stock somewhere, or you may not. I even checked retailers in Germany and no one had it.

BTW, I specifically ordered the "lower" seating position brackets, but it reduced the height maybe 0.5 inches. My head is still hitting the roof with my helmet on.

You can find used SRDs for sale fairly often, they came standard in JDM DC2 Integra Type R so a lot of them are floating around since people replace them with bucket seats, Brides etc... Some are clean, some are pretty beat, they came in red or black (red is more common). The seats are very similar in style to the current Speed model, main difference is the Recaro stitching is small and below the harness provision on the ITR SRD. The regular SRD is pretty much the same as the Speed, visually. The materials I'm sure are different as well as small details. I've considered getting a pair of SRDs and reupholstering them since the stock sports "Vader" seats leave something to be desired regarding bolster support on track... But I don't want to go down the bucket/harness/bar rabbit hole...

Yea but it's pretty easy to spot the fakes. Price is the first indicator. Then look for the RECARO logo on the side piece. And just look at build quality, fit and finish, and use common sense.

Take a look here. Authentic Recaro seats in various conditions for sale from a reputable Japanese retailer. They have various options to ship to the US. The one you want is the SR-3.
