I have two M3s: an E30 and an E36. I enjoy both, but the E36 is my favourite.

In total, I've owned four M3s. Currently own two. At one point, I owned three at the same time, but it was pretty difficult to prioritize which project(s) I waned to focus on. (fun as hell and pretty cool though)

1) 97' E36 TechnoViolet Coupe [totaled]
2) 01' E46 TitaniumSilver [Sold]
3) 89' E30 Lachssilber [Currently own]
4) 96' E36 TechnoViolet Coupe [Currently own]

I do not think that I would own two E36s at the same time but I do have a half ass plan of buying either adding an E39M in the not too distant future.

I've had quite a few, sometimes 2 at once, they are great cars. I think an e36 and e46 are a great combo, didn't enjoy the e36 and e92 combo nearly as much.

Couldn't recommend the E92 M3 enough. I can only imagine what color it's going to be!

I've had 3 at a time on 2 occasions. It's not very manageable, however.
Now I'm down to one. It might be the next to go.

If I just focused on collecting BMWs, I would say three. One e30, one e36, and one e46. Presumably, the e30 would get driven the least, followed by the e36 a track car, and the e46 as the daily driver.

However, I think I would probably go for more driving diversity and have a front, mid, and rear-engine vehicle.

I still have my 99M3 after 12 years and drive it about 8k miles per year even though it is significantly modded. I presently have little interest in owning another. I don't have space for many cars or time to drive many cars and don't have the time or money to own cars I don't drive. I have had a modded E90M3 for 7 years and really like it and also have an E61 535xi that my wife drives and have modded it only with a JB4. I would not mind an E46M3 with a turbo. I don't have much interest in the current M3. My next car will probably be a 997.2TT PDK or a 991.1TT PDK, and I am not yet sure whether I would get rid of one of the M3s kr not. It will be 2 years so I have time to think about how many cars I want to own, but think I will be focusing on cars from this century.
