We have similar taste. I also have a hellrot s54 swapped e36 m3/4/5 that I have owned for three years, and recently added an estoril slicktop m3/4/5. They are very different. The s54 swapped car is used exclusively on the track with a cage, the aforementioned s54 and a ton of other parts. My other sedan is entirely stock, and I intend to keep it close to stock. The yin and yang of the e36 world, if you will. One is a no compromise track car and totally nutty, while the other is a true all arounder.

I considered other cars for my fun sometimes daily in lieu of the stock e36 sedan. But the e36 m3 still represents a good value, IMO, and the price point is still low enough to enjoy driving it. It is just a very good package for me. Great transmission, enough power, classic looks and practical to boot.

I currently own two E36's also, a 328i and an M3. The cars are very different so I do enjoy them each differently.

I have a 99 M3 coupe and I'm passively looking for a sedan. As the coupe skates the edge of the track car rabbit hole, I'm considering the sedan more and more lol. On the plus side, my wife likes these cars so she is for the idea. She wants either a 914 or an E36 M3 sedan, two very similar cars right......? lmao.

I want one with a folding rear seat and that seems to be pretty rare. There's a Byzanz for sale in Seattle right now that I like, but it's almost 10k and has a rebuilt title, and it's not like it's just down the street for me to check out in person.

Two E36M3's in the family:

My own 1997 M3/4/5 Cosmos on black, with my prototype twin screw kit on it. Needs some updating but is a semi-daily driver.

Purchased a 1998 M3/4/A Alpine on black for my son (stimpeejr) as a college scholarship gift. Working to prepare for a 5 speed swap and some other updates to make it "nice"

Good memory Chris! I wish I still owned all 7 at once ... To clarify, I currently have a '99 M3, '04 M3, and yes, an '07 997S. Selling the Alpine e30 was regretful, but honestly, the e36 is so much more fun to drive and it opened the door to acquiring the 3 cars I have now. I'm trying to compete with Josh Ivie, LOL! All together now:

This is so excellent on so many levels. Love the stable sir. Maybe I'll take you're route but do all black cars. E46 M3's seem to be at a decent price point right now, although I haven't looked too heavily into them so I could be wrong.
