I have a weekday car, I'm thinking a weekend car / fun car. I just traded in my 435 for a new Jag.

What are your thoughts on the long term value the Lime Rock will hold. I want to put about 20-25k down and finance the rest.

Do you think in 5-10 years the car will still hold its value pretty well, if I keep it low miles in great condition?

My friend who's owned a couple M3s seems to think the price will keep going down on them, but I am in the 'collector' business of high end sneakers and I think the complete opposite.

All opinions are welcome, I like to bounce ideas off people before I go drop $50,000 on a car.

Thanks

So the E92 has a few factors currently that will favor investments of certain optioned ones. I won't dive into it here, but a low mileage well-optioned LR will fetch a nice return if kept in great condition. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss it Best of luck

Remember that monster shunt of his in Canada? The next day, as he walked out of hospital, a journalist asked him if he'd seen the crash on TV. Robert Kubica stopped, looked the journo right in the eye and said: "I've seen it twice: the first time I was there!"

Exactly like the sneakers!

I could see a manual lime rock increasing in value, but enough to justify it as an investment? Not sure about that. Buy one and drive it!

This was has a rebuilt engine from BMW about 2 months ago... Do you think that will greatly impact the long term value of the car? They were pretty negotiable on price too.

i would say YES if you were looking for it to retain value

surprised they don't give the info in the listing

there are a few dct cars on auto trader, two manuals for sale on eBay but one is a rebuilt salvage title car (they didn't even add the carbon accents in the front when they rebuilt it!)

I saw that one, the one in Jersey.

Right now the only two places that seem to get amazing options are Dallas Motorsports and Enthusiast Auto in Ohio. EA has two great options. There's one for sale in San Diego, but I think it's over priced compared to the other 4-5 on the market right now.

If a 6sp Lime Rock is too difficult to find, might look into a late year, low optioned E92/E90 M3 in a rare color combo. That might be worth keeping long term. IDK, I'd rather drive the thing as much as possible than buy it as an investment.
