Hello kokogo,

My elbow did not kink and is smooth along the curve. However, it was necessary to properly aligned the spline of the weather seal within the track and if done correctly, it will look perfect BEFORE you put the rail back on the car. Without pictures from you, I can only guess though. Did you use a wide flat head screw driver to wedge the spline into the track?

It is also possible that the weather seal is "bunched up" at the elbow and could be stretched out a bit towards the nearest end on the rail. Careful though. The weather seal can rip if pulled to hard.

I hope that helps.

I took out a small loan and replaced the entire piece on both sides.

Yeah i used a screw driver to wedge the spline into the track, i will take it off again within 2 weeks to replace the bottom strip, i was board last weekend so decided to get once side done just to see how hard it is, it was easy since i took the rear vent window out also, but i will try to align the spline farther away from the elbow to try to avoid that kink.
Will post some pics while I'm doing the other side.
Do u have a close pic of that elbow before install? just to kinda see how it suppose to look.

Thanks for the diy. I'm going crazy with the wind whistling in the rear.

Great DIY! I just completed the job and it was straight forward thanks to the pictures. I would advise getting all the adhesive tape residue off the lower trim piece. That part took the longest, but the end result was great. Any feedback on how long the generic weather strip will last? I used the same piece for a job on the back of my truck as well. Hopefully it will hold up. Also the lower outer trim piece that I ordered from ECS is now black hard plastic instead of rubber coated. It looks better and should hold up longer.

I really need to get this done, my driver side seal is torn wide open.
I made an attempt this morning, although I couldn't get the main trim piece out of the way to get to the screws.
It says to just pull down... Its just friction...
Well I pulled down, hard! Thing wouldn't come off and I'm a pretty strong guy.
Is there some type of technique or tool I should be using for this?
So far it's just been frustrating!

America23, could you please take a picture of the trim piece that you are having a hard time moving down and post it?
