Default Engine Swap ECU Question

I am new to the E46 M3 chassis and am considering an engine swap. The biggest deciding factor is going to be how troublesome the wiring will be...

Can anyone tell me how many in car creature comforts are lost through eliminating the factory ECU/ harness? I understand the AC control is in the engine harness and I will either need to do without AC or I'll need to make a sub harness.

I dont care about the dash or steering wheel functions. I plan on running an AEM Infinity and a CD7 dash.

Kindly,
Rob

If you're running an AEM Infinity, they have plug and play harnesses for the e46. I'd imagine they'd be able to answer all of your questions.

They offer a plug and play ecu for the oem harness. As mentioned... I am looking to eliminate the factory ecu and harness. I asked what (if any) OTHER features would be lost by eliminating the factory ecu.

You know what's *also* involved? Getting their ECU to work with the cluster, etc. (If you actually looked into it)

If they did enough RE to do that, they can surely tell you how to turn on an AC compressor (or why it can't). Ask.

Side note - engine swap and race ECU doesn't spell out "creature comforts" off the bat

You'll lose ac, some cluster functions, cruise control etc.. This is not simply a wiring issue, its a canbus thing.
