Default What's the best location for Go Pro microphone?

I have a track day tomorrow and last time I went I used my external mic for the Go Pro for the first time. Much better than using the built in, but there was still a good amount of wind noise. I used a clip and mounted it to the license plate and was wondering if it would be better to tape it lower around the diffuser. Any suggestions?

Here is a link of the video with the mic on the license plate

I was using a cheap $5 for 5 mic that came with foam wind sock.

I just got a GoPro Hero 5 because my Sony camera went to shit. I’m pretty disappointed about having to spend $50 for the mic adapter, but at least I can hardwire the camera with it and not have to worry about charging in between sessions.

I'd rather be at the track.

I also attach mine to the rear bumper. I wrapped it with a small piece of foam I have from another mic and that killed the wind noise.

I agree, that is BS. I bought the Hero 6 for my last track day and did not realize I need that adapter. Luckily another guy let me barrow his, but I since bought one. $50 for that stupid thing. WHY?

Thanks for your input. I will try to tape it down by the muffler tomorrow and use some foam. Your sound is a little better than mine, but still has some windnoise

That sounds good. I will try the foam. Thanks.
Watkins Glen looks like a fun track and fast. What's the top speed there?

I ran mine on the bumper for a while too (like robgill).

I moved it under the rear bulkhead and think I prefer it there.

Sorry, can you clarify? What are you referring to with bulkhead?

Lets face it - if we're being honest with ourselves - there is no way to make our cars sound good. I had my sitting over the muffler exhaust. You had to turn volume to lowest setting to watch my videos. I just moved it into the engine bay sitting on top of the Evolve intake. It's improvement over 4000 rpm but at lower end all you hear are injectors clicking.
