Pin-type, USA made stands or bust. To answer OP's question I am using a Sunex 2-ton low-rider. LOVE IT.

Same setup a Braymond.

The HF 6 ton units yeld over 20 inches of clearance and that's not even maxed out. Plenty of room to comfortably swap transmissions, engines, rear ends etc.

I've retired those after getting a full size lift but it was the next best thing. Great setup with which you can literally do everything.

My secondary setup is now a Quick Jack 5000. I love how quick and painless it is to use. No messing around with multiple jacks and elaborate multi-step procedures to get to the desired height. Just slide them under and hit the switch.

They don't go nearly as high though and their footprint is much bigger. I wouldn't use them to drop a trans personally but they are perfect for smaller stuff and most if not all basic maintenance and mods.

Amen brother, this jack is The best, very low profile and lifts the car very high, best 200 bucks I ever spent.

I have a quickjack and love it. I don't have enough garage height for an actual lift, so this is the next best thing. For smaller, quick jobs I also have an otc aluminum jack and stands.

I completely trust the quick jack, but I still put stands under there "just in case" when I'm doing something major. I had a stand fold on me when I was a teenager and it completely changed my outlook on trusting them and being underneath cars in general.
