Default Re: Error Code 59 - NO START

I should've posted the solution a long time ago. I changed the slave cylinder. It didn't fix the problem, but the old one was destroyed. The end solution was the clutch and supporting components(throw out bearing, clutch fork, etc). Total cost, OEM parts and labor with a 2 year warranty, was just under 2k.

A "bmw specialist" shop told me it was the hydraulic pump and would cost 5700 to replace. Completely wrong. So be careful, even if it's a reputable shop because this was one as well. I used INPA to diagnose my issue. Everything checked out, gears accuated, the pump had correct pressure and reloaded in proper time intervals, etc. The only thing wrong was the error code 59 and the clutch position value was way over. So spend 25 bucks for the software with USB to obd port and double check the symptoms yourself before you change the clutch. Here's a YouTube video explaining stuff. Check out the description links. Burkhardt has a code list of codes that typically point to the pump.

If that link doesnt work, try this removing the space:

God your response was at least a beacon of light.

What i've been through slow / delayed shifts and a very heavy engagement like a bucking bronko.

Everything from the gear position sensor, clutch, pump are possible culprits.

I'm not a person on the SMG hell maiden voyage. I've been through the below.
  • Pump replaced
  • Gear position sensor replaced
  • Clutch replaced with OEM kit
  • Slave cylinder replaced (was destroyed like yours, but not the problem)
When i pull the harness off the slave cylinder the car will start and go into 1st R and move.

Replacing the slave cylinder harness the car won't code and fails at 59.

Also to be clear i already own inpa/usb as that's how i'm getting the 59 on failure to program the actuator before the clutch bleed step. (both fail regardless of order)
