CSL is now on the cards but still no official word on if the US will be receiving a CSL badged ///M3 or atleast getting some sort of power upgrade for the E9X. If the CSL was to be sold in America, it would be in very low volume number and would have to meet some of the World's strictest engine emission laws. However, the CSL model has not been confirmed for other countries outside the UK at the moment so we are still in a holding pattern until the powers that be at BMW MSport release further details.

BMW M GmbH will be introducing some changes for the year 2009. All 2009 ///M cars will feature the new iDrive system. The information and photos are for EU models.

Most notably will be the change of the rear on the ///M3 sedan. There are new lights, a new rear bumper and trunk lid. On the interior there are new vent grills, modification to trim pieces and doors. The new start/stop button, new head rests (anti-whiplash), Space Grey (new to sedan) and Le Mans Blue paint will be utilized in all ///M3 applications, not just the sedan for this fall. The pearl chrome trim will also be available.

The M6 coupe will now offer a Competition package. The package consists of chassis improvements, including lowering by 12 millimeters at the front and 10 millimeters on the rear axle, custom Chassis control systems and forged aluminum wheels in double-spoke design. The Competition package will include visual distinctions such as a re-contoured hood, modified lights and other styling cues to give the car a more sporting character.

BMW M5 and BMW M6: New exterior mirrors with an enlarged field of vision and more Efficiency. BMW Efficient Dynamics technologies such as regenerative braking will also be featured in these models.

The US market should see all of these changes this fall as well. We will bring it to you when it is made official.

Good chance there will be minor updates, but there is always something newer coming. Best to enjoy it now rather than waiting, IMO. Lights on sedan were just updated, and Nav system on all.

Default Rumor....335Tii to challenge M3?

Sorry if this is a repost....is it true that this could be the latest challenger to the M3? Why would BMW do this and challenge the already shrinking sales of the M3? Is there a drastic move in the future to reduce production of the M? Interesting....I hear the specs include more hp and torque for this 335. We'll see if it makes a debut in 2009/10.

That would seem to be a stupid marketing move, unless they move the M further upmarket. It could be the next M3 powertrain in disguise, of course, given the increased recognition of fuel economy as important for the future.

Maybe BMW is also working on a power increase for the M3.
