I would avoid silicone hoses just because they are ugly AF. Also, OEM hoses are not a huge failure point and silicone can be difficult to secure (they slide off).

Always use factory clamps or similar style. Typical parts store clamps chew up the hoses.

I'm not so sure...

You can get silicon hoses in OEM-look mat black... they're expensive but lifetime so I think it's a personal decision verses a do/don't one. https://roosemotorsport.co.uk/silicone-hose-kits

The OEM Oetinger clamps are an unnecessarily royal PITA. Since you're putting them on manually and you're not in a rush you don't need their pre-set clamp pressure "feature" so you're inconveniencing yourself for no benefit. And you need a special tool. Use stainless steel worm drive clamps which can be reused, will last a lifetime and cost less.

Oetiker clamps are great. I use them all of the time. However, only two Oetiker clamps are used on the US M3 cooling system, and none of what we are discussing mentions replacing them with the same crimp style.

Non-perforated worm gear clamps are great. Perforated are ****ing trash and will ruin your hoses.

Silicone hose kits rarely come in an OE look here. Everything is colored or glossy

Good clamps

Garbage clamps

When you say "Always use factory clamps or similar style" the clear implication is that you mean the same type of clamp, that's exactly what you were discussing.

This is certainly true although I didn't even think to make it explicit that you need to use soft hose clamps on soft hoses.

Check the link I posted (edit: they ship to the US).
