Default Quick Question: Rear parcel shelf

Trying to replace the rear parcel shelf in my 2006 M3. Are all the rear shelfs the same? Were there any changes incorporated between the years or between HK and non-HK equipped cars?

Thanks

It's been ages since I pulled my rear shelf, but I'd imagine there are some differences with HK since the sub is back there. Have you checked realOEM for part number differences?

Looks like there is only 1 configuration, but multiple colors.

Yeah the only one that came up on real oem was a single black shelf with part number 51466955325. Looking online though sellers suggest that there are different types (such as on eBay). So just a bit lost as to what differences there might be between them.

All the shelves are the same. If it's not damaged, it might be cheaper to just remove it and redye it. That's how I fixed it when mine turned purple.

There are no vents or grills or anything for the HK sub. It mounts from underneath and does not put out enough bass to need an opening in the trim...

For that matter, I cut holes in the deck and dropped in 2 8" subs on top of the rear deck, under the parcel shelf, and the only alteration needed was trimming some of the plastic reinforcement (to clear the sub excursion)

That said, my shelf is purple now and needs dyed

They updated the rear shelf for later model e46 coupes. I'm not sure if they did it for M3 but the early rear parcel shelves had rattling issues which they addressed by implementing a bracket that bolts through near the subwoofer housing. Also the speaker covers are different.

Hmmm anyone know about the M3? I wonder if they implemented it in the 2003.5 and up M3

You can search this on REALOEM...do 2 searches, 1 for the first production date and 1 for the last.
