I have little clunk or grinding sound for 2 seconds when turning in parking lot. Happened to me 3 times maybe in the last week. Didnt happen today....
![]() Info 04 SMG with 10800 miles. Many members say its the diff.. just change the fluid and it should be fine. But others say its normal on smg or something.... Probably will take it to the dealer but they are gonna say its normal or they cant hear it.... Just wanted to ask before I go in... :nixweiss:

Also, there is a problem with diffs that BMW is aware of. My 02 M3 started grinding and I mean grinding when you make a sharp turn into a parking space at slow speed. Much discussion with dealer. I could reporduce the sound (loud) when I wanted to. Sounded like I was dragging the underbody across a curb. Tried the oil change recommended by bmw and it still did it. Bmw then replaced my rear dif under warranty at 19,000. It cost them $1400 for a rebuilt dif plus labor. Car now has 35,000 and all the miles since the dif was changed were to and from the track or on the track. No noise. I had to reproduce the sound for BMW field manager. His face was red when I did.
