I'm thinking of getting a W211 E55 myself. But I'm seeing a handful of nice E63s too.
That head bolt issue isn't cool.
Has anyone given up an M3 for a W211 AMG? How did that work out?

Two completely different kinds of cars. They complement each other but donít replace.

I went from an E46 M3 to a w211 e55 wagon. The e55 is way faster in a straight line. I never got over how fast it was after owning it for 4 years and I never missed the e46. It was also extremely comfy, ate up highway miles like nothing else, and never seemed to beat me up no matter how hard I pushed it or how long I drove. Maintenance is on par, maybe a little more expensive on the AMG. The e63 has multipiece rotors which are much more expensive, the electronics are much better, and I think generally a little more reliable. Both are rock solid from a build quality perspective though. W211 is a tank.

That's what I keep hearing. I'm just wondering if I'll miss the handling of the M3

they are definitely softer and heavier but in the day to day i thought it still handled very well. The air suspension was actually very reliable for me and felt great in sport mode. i wouldnt really want to consistently track a w211 if that is what you mean.

Yeah. Not looking for a track car. Just a fun family hauler.
The 4.8iS is fun, but it's not fast and doesn't hide it's weight that well.
