Default 2002 E46 M3 steel grey track car

I always wanted another E46 M3 dedicated track car from the day I sold my last E46 M3 race car back in December 2011. I sold the car and my 18'x8.5' Brimar open trailer because I didn't had a garage back then. My car was always at my sponsor's garage VAG Motorsport but the business was growing and space was missing for my M3. I didn't want to rent a storage space because you can't do any mechanic in them.

Here is the build up thread of my last E46 M3, some might remember it:

http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=316864

I also sold my extra E46 M3 shell to the guy who bought my race car couple of month later.

Default 2007 BMW Z4M Coupe

Two months later (February 2012) after I sold the E46 M3, I was looking to buy a street legal car that I can track. I was tempted to get another E46 M3 but I ended up buying a 2007 BMW Z4M COUPE with ESS VT445 supercharger kit. Saw the car on AutoTrader and fall in love instantly.

I picked up the car in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I did the trip with my E70 X5 and bring back the car with my friend's Trailex aluminum open trailer. It's a 2600km trip back and forth, during winter and hit a snow storm on my way back.

Vehicle Specifications
BMW Z4M Coupe
Build Date: 12/2006
#1013 of 1815
Silvergray
Imola red Nappa Leather
Navigation

Some pics when I got the car

I fabricated a custom hitch for the M Coupe and bought an Harbor Freight trailer. I fabricated a tire rack with locks, space for 3 fuel jugs and installed a pick up truck box on it. Perfect setup to go to the track!

Some winter fun ride with the M Coupe

At some point I wanted a race seat so I trade my imola red leather for black leather + cash and got a Recaro Pole Position leather /alcantara seat

The navigation system in the M Coupe sucks honestly. I got tired of it and was able to sell my navigation system and trade the dash board to get rid of the hole for the flip screen. So I removed some weight and made some cash for other mods. Also installed a lightweight battery at the same time

I installed CSL headers and modified the section 1 like an euro and add o2 sensors and EGT bungs in it. Did the job myself. The bungs are from Vibrant and the EGT bung is custom, drilled the center of a M14X1.25 bolts on a lathe and cut the head. I also gutted my OEM mufflers and weld bigger tips. The mufflers are a bit restrictive from factory so I make a straight design while keeping the perforated pipe and keep the same packing

I installed an APR GTC 300 and made custom brackets to hold it in place

I had KW Clubsport with Hyperco 650/750 spings and Performance Friction Z45/Z29 BBK!

Installed Strong Strut 3 pieces brace kit and a 42Draft Design oil catch can

Pirelli DH slicks 245/265
Apex ARC-8 18x9.5et22 18x10et25
Pirelli Trofeo 245/265

I owned the car for 2.5 years and did about 10-15 track days with it. It was a nice car, relatively fast on the track, rare... But it was kind of too nice and still worth too much money to completely gutted it and make a dedicated track car out of it. I was also having problem with the ESS software during cold track days. The car would get into limp mode because it was running too poor/there was not enough fuel delivered and would not go higher than 1000 rpm unless you shut the engine off and restart... Kind of dangerous on the track... And ESS would not give any support since the Z4M crowd is so small...especially those with ESS SC kit who track their car and can push hard enough to get this limp mode... I think we were like 5 on the planet who had this specific problem...So I sold the Z4M Coupe back in June 2014.

Default 2008 bmw e90 m3

When I sold the Z4M Coupe in June 2014, my E46 Touring was my only street legal car, no more summer toy. It lasted 2 months before I switched to something else. The touring was a nice daily driver and winter beater but the M54B25 miss something call POWER, especially when AWD!!! So I was able to get a really decent price for it when I trade it for my 2008 E90 M3 Silverstone II with black interior.

6-speed manual
Executive package
Technology package
Carbon leather trims
Tint windows 35%
aFe filter
Dinan mufflers
Black grills
Painted reflectors
Arkym CF front lip
BMW Performance CF rear spoiler
BMW Performance shift knob
BMW Performance pedals
APEX ARC8 18x9.5et35 18x10et25
Michelin PSS 245/265

Installed OEM CF Mirror caps, Arkym front lip, black grills and tinted windows

Installed Dinan mufflers

Installed my ACS Type 2

With the ARC8 and oem CF spoiler

I had to change the throttle valve actuators $$$$

I need to admit that the E90 M3 is a really nice daily driver. It's comfortable on the road not like the E46 OEM suspension, seat/driving position is perfect and seats are way more comfortable than E46. I had all the nice feature in mine like comfort access, NAV, EDC, ... The S65 is an awesome engine but needs to rev to be fun and the way I do my daily commute I rarely use the engine to it's full potential. I did only one track day with the E90 M3 where you can really use the engine but the car feels front heavy and a bit less precise than E46 M3. Anyway, I bought it to use only as a daily driver anyway.

In december 2015, a friend of mine told me he wanted to sell his Porsche 997 Turbo and his 2002 BMW 325xit to get only one car instead, an E90 M3. He was looking for an alpine white on Fox red. I told him that I can sell mine if he want it. At first, he wasn't interested in my car because Silverstone II... So I offered him to trade my E90 M3 for his 325xit. Once the 997T sold, my offer was more interesting because that way he didn't had to sell his Touring. He looked on the web and found a Fox red interior and finally accepted my offer. So we trade cars in January 2016 and I installed a couple parts on the E90 M3:

-Mars LED Taillights
-BMW Performance steering wheel
-Angel eyes
-Fox Red interior

I also help him out with a new set of Work VSXX. He wanted to get the centers in Silverstone II like the car!

While installing the Fox red interior, I had some fun with guys on a local forum. I took some pics with roll bar I have for E46 M3 and told them I was building a race car with the E90 M3!

Default 2002 E46 325XIT Japanrot

So here is my actual daily driver. Reasons for trading my E90 M3 were :

-free up some money for the E46 M3 mods and track season
-I am doing only 10000km / 6250 miles a year of daily commute
-road sucks big time here in Montreal, Canada
-winter is hard for a car & screw up a paint job
-I will eventually want a SUV with a tow capacity around 5-6000lbs as a DD
-Never like the look of the E9x M3 generation that much

2002 E46 325xit
Sport Package
5 speed manual
130500km = 82000 miles
Japanrot / Electric red exterior
Black interior

KW V1 coilovers
Avant Garde M220 19x8.5 et35
M3 steering wheel

Default 1999 BMW Z3M Coupe

In March 2014, I bought a 1999 BMW Z3M Coupe track car. It was a salvage title car that was poorly fixed. I bought it for cheap (8000$) and sold some extra or unwanted parts and in the end with all the parts sold and the new parts bought the car cost me 0$ . It was just a project car for me because I never really wanted to track this car.

Modification list
Moton Motorsport 2-way coilovers with 600/750 springs
Turner Motorsport adjustable swaybars
Strong Strut front brace
Recaro Profi race seat
Schrotch Clubmann harness
OMP 1010 pedals
OMP Superleggera steering wheel
Jaffster shift knob
APR front splitter (Z4MC)
APR GTC300 rear wing
Aerocatch hood pins
DBA 4000 rotors
Calipers guide pins brass bushings
Bimmerworld aluminum radiator
3.73 LSD diff
Braille 21Lbs battery
Bimmerworld silicone elbow
aFe filter
Magnaflow mufflers
E46 M3 OEM 18x9et26 square setup painted black

The car had a kind of roll cage that was not well made, weld were not 360 degrees and design was weird so I start removing all the 1-1/2'' bar and also the weird one. I also removed all the extra weight in the interior like door cards, center console, sunroof and mechanism, AC components, sound deadening, some sheet metal, gutted the doors interior and trunk, ... I installed an APR front splitter (the one from my Z4MC) & rear wing with custom riser, paint the dash in black to cover the tan original interior, made some vents into rear bumper, remove glass windows in doors, rear quarter and back glass. Made a vent into the front bumper to give more air to the radiator. There was hood pins installed previously and the installation must went wrong because there was some extra holes drilled and hood was a bit bent. I was able to correct that job while installing Aerocatch hood pins.
