Default playskool1 appreciation thread

Hello,
I would like to share my experience with Ray (playskool1) in regards to service for my 2006 E46 M3 with 88,000 miles. I contacted him about VANOS bulletproofing service, he promptly replied with a parts list (with links to parts on multiple websites) and explanations on each part. He also broke down his labor rate and usual shop rates.

I contacted him after I had the parts on hand and scheduled an appointment on a weekend (I live 1-1/2 hours away). I dropped off the car on a Friday evening, we spent quite a bit of time talking the work he would complete and cars in general. He offered to drop me off at the nearby BART station so I could get back home (Modesto area). While completing the work, he sent me photos and provided updates of what he found. I am glad I went with the Turbotoy hub as 1 tab sheared off, luckily still in the oil pump disk hole. During the valve adjustment, he found valves not in spec which was a surprise as I had Inspection II less than 8,000 miles ago. Ray even went the extra mile and cleaned the MAF sensor.

I am quite satisfied with the total experience and Ray’s attention to detail; more thorough than the highly rated BMW enthusiast/specialist shops in Modesto and Bay Area I had taken the M3 to multiple times previously. I would recommend his services to anyone.
