Anyone have a reputable shop or person in the LA area that can do a valve adjustment? Or anyone have a shim kit I could borrow / buy / rent?
TIA! Edit: To save you guys time, here's a summary: All the following pages are basically praises to how great Kevin is. Reviews, pictures, and history of everything he has done since he started offering this service. He's a great mechanic and great person in general. Save yourself some time and just PM the guy! http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/member.php?u=82516

you can always come down here to San Diego. I'd be willing to help. you would just need something to measure and the removal tool. We can go get the shims from the local BMW. I have to do mine in 6500 miles or so, so it would be a good thing to learn.

Have you done yours before? Do you have the gap measuring tools as well? I would actually be down for that. It would be nice to spend a day / weekend down there.

I have nothing! HAHA! I've worked on my own cars since I was 16 (now 29), so I'm not worried about it. I think the tools would be a wise investment on both our parts to be honest. In the videos I've seen, it looks pretty easy.

You will need something to measure gap and the removal tool. I have a dealership near by that will sell you each shim individually

Well currently have someone local-ish willing to do it for not too much. Either that or if I have the balls I might order the parts and just spend a day at the shop and figure it out on my own. If I decide the later your more than welcome to drive up. I have a shop with all the tools you could imagine

If the cost isn't too much, I would pay! Even though it's not hard, it takes a long time. I guess it depends on how much your time is worth. I get a day off a week....it would be with it to me to just have it done if the price was good

Just DIY
Its not too bad there are a couple of people that will let you rent their Shim Kit with the removal tool.. then u need a set of feeler gauges and a micrometer. Im local if you need a hand ![]()
