I wonder if more than 1 car had this issue?
I kept the E60 for a long time despite the disasters. Like 3 more years. Drove it until it had 90k miles. It had such a solid and quality feel to it. The engine and handling were amazing. I loved it. People don’t talk about the handling of it but it was state of the art at the time and quite good. I tracked it a lot too (fun but heavy). The way the V10 responded and accelerated is so special and wild. NA goodness in its purest form. I read a few others had hydro locks. It was a bad batch of Bosch injectors in 2006 (maybe later years too but I haven’t seen it).

On the topic of RS5. It’s a beautiful car. To me maybe most beautiful on the market for a sedan. But I have no desire to own one. I didn’t drive it but My previous Audi experiences left me wanting an M. Too muted, too much understeer, infotainment isn’t as good as BMW. I test drove the SQ5 and it had no emotion like the X3 M40i. It was just a nice fast SUV.

F80 M3 is compromised in the right ways. It’s loud inside (lack of sound insulation) and very communicative (except for the steering feel). I bet everyone would like driving an RS5. Most people would dis-like an F80, it just loud and intense (which to me is the fun and exciting parts). It’s more polarizing. E46 was like that, my ex-wife hated driving it.

E46 CS is same as ZCP. Just different names in different markets. Which, while it’s mostly marketing was still well worth it to me. I would gladly get another ZCP, it made me happy. Wheels, steering, an MDM mode, and an alcantara wheel made it feel slightly more special. Right now BMW is leaning on individual colors for the similar purpose at the end of a life cycle.

Fair points.. I still think you should test drive it before dismissing it
