well, when one is drag racing a P100D that seats 7 and pulls a 10.7 1/4 mile, makes you wonder why the audi can only fit 4 and is slower?

I just don't get the point of a 4 seat arrangement if you're already a 4,000 lb plus chassis with a huge cargo hold, especially when you have 5 seat options in lesser variants.

I'd have to imagine the people buying these are using them as daily drivers and I load my car up with 5 people relatively frequently, one of the reasons I went sedan over coupe for my latest.

VW CC 5 seat

VW CC 4 seat

IMO, you give up a really cool and comfortable seating arrangement that is more useful in most situations (storage space) for a tiny joke of a "seat" that you will end up using may once or twice a month? IMO the 4 seat config gives a more upmarket feel to the car.

If you have kids, that 5th joke of a seat comes in handy fairly often. Otherwise, you need two 4 passenger cars to do the same job as one 5 passenger car. Why doesn't that fold down armrest have storage in it? no storage on seatbacks or in doors? why are VW back seat passengers so fat? is this an american version?

To my eye those outboard seats are identical, so i'm not sure how the 5 seat arrangement is any different in terms of comfort. It also doesn't look like you pick up any meaningful storage (lower bin seems to contain a cupholder which is already in the fold down armrest of the 5 seat, and a tiny bin), while losing a potential seat (even if it is only used occasionally, it's still there).

It's even worse on the A7:

Where all you're getting is an uncovered plastic hole.

In both situations, it's marketing bullshit to sell the idea of a 4 door coupe IMO.

I prefer 4 seater arrangement. Make 5 ride in the trunk.
