And my dad knows this guy who was totally like a really big deal at BMW and he said that there was this secret warehouse in like Idaho or something where they had all the prototypes for the engines and after ten years they had to destroy them because they were a liability but then he was able to get one out of there and then he put it in this car but it looks just the same as a regular one and no I don't have the dyno sheets to prove it 'cos if I did they would know something is up because no other stock motor makes this much power serious inquiries only please.

Apparently he's selling a low-mileage individual couch too.

I talked to the guy last night. Said something about three reputable collector car folks in Arizona and California who told him his car was worth $25k. I did not inquire if marijuana was involved. I mentioned the very similar TX car that sold for 16k and he said that was not even book value.

All joking aside, I'm seriously looking for a low-time Avus and I love M-pars. So if another Avus Individual shows up, I call dibs
I'm pissed I missed that one in TX.
I would pay a premium for this sort of car given maintenance records, no damage history, etc etc. But his story-telling is off-putting.

Anyways-anybody know of a minty Avus, shoot me a PM.

Just make him an offer for what you think it's worth, and tell him to give you a call when he comes back down to reality . He's obviously trying to hook someone that doesn't know any better, but most people with 25 grand to spend on a car, are going to want something a lot newer. People will buy a new Kia instead of a year-old Honda. E36 enthusiasts, on the other hand, obviously know that it isn't worth 25 grand. So yeah, in a few weeks I'm sure he will be willing to talk.

I agree, though, that when someone is telling wild fabrications in order to sell a car it does make me extra-suspicious. Who knows if maintenance records were forged, odometers were manipulated, substandard parts or shoddy labor were used? If he's already willing to lie...

Indeed nice looking but the owner is on crack as far as pricing goes.

If it really only has 50k miles, it will be coming up on some maintenance items before too much longer. Some maybe now simply because of age.

Naw see that would actually add value.
I told him I'd start getting interested around 17k. We'll see if he comes down to earth.
