Default Possibly bricked my DME MSS54...

I was attempting to flash from SMG to Manual.

Had a charger on it, however, either the charger is bad or the cord was... Tried flashing with WinKFP, started, then lost comms...

Now I can't connect with INPA or WinKFP.

Starting my search, but can someone give me some direction regarding options?

Thank you.

A little more info. When I try and pick a software to flash with, it gets to the question about the number of flashes left (says 9 but I have never flashed this car but I am not the original owner).

I am trying to flash 7837907 - MSS54 EU3 onto hardware number 7837941.

When in WinKFP I can get status of the ECU and it seems to respond, but the software info seems corrupt.

Try flashing the matching file: http://www.ecuworx.co.uk/uploads/sto...002101J424.bin using BMWFlash or MSSFlasher.

I changed a few things according to one of p0lars posts and was able to get the SMG tune back on so I am slightly alive again.I had "fast baudrate" checked. Even then it failed to flash 1/2 thru a couple of times. I switched battery chargers and closed all the doors and trunk to preserve power and it made it. The connection kept getting disturbed.

So my next question, is which tune do I flash on to get the Manual tune going? I was first thinking 7837907 but if I am reading that right it is the Euro tune and messes with the secondary cat sensors. I am in Texas and need to pass inspection so I would like to do it by the book. Any insight into the latest US Spec manual version? Thanks again.

Per his post...
Restart WinKFP. Click "configuration". Make sure "fast baudrate" is unchecked. Make sure "Programming

Voltage", "Show Programming Voltage", "Test Checksum", "activate Bootsectorupdate", "UIF Write after data",

"UIF Write after Program", and "UIF Write in Comfort Mode" are checked.

2101 is indeed a euro version.
2601 and 2801 are US versions.

A7842974 - 211322002801J469 is the latest non HP US manual file.

Take a read from the ECU using BMWFlash and load it into my tool and report back what the version is reported. I can then identify the matching manual file for your program version.

MartynT,

I noticed there were two very similar versions A7842972 and A7842974. I successfully flashed with A7842972.

I will pull down the current flash and post this info.

Hi,
Problem resolved?
Here's a solution:
I had the same problem and after 3 days of searching, I found the default solution ifh009 of winkfp with cable inpa dcan.
It is not necessary that pins 7 and 8 of the cable odb are joined, after it is necessary to modify the parameters of the port com in the panel of configuration windows.

Set the buffers fifo to 4096 or even to 2240, latency to 1 (16 by default), set the waiting time for writing and reading at least 1000 ms (they are located at the bottom left of the setting window). After ca works without problem with W7 x86.
Sorry for my bad English.
Im french.
