Default E46 M3 LED rear turn signal issue

My left rear turn signal went out on my 03.5 M3, with the LED tail light. I can't seem to find any way to dx where the problem is coming from.

I thought LEDs were indestructible, and they didn't burn out like regular bulbs. Is there a relay I need to check? I looked in the fuse box and there is o fuse associated with lt rear tail light. Or do I just need to buy the whole tail light assembly?

Thanks in advance.

I would get out a multi-meter and test voltage at the wiring harness that connects to the turn signal.

Connect the positive and negative leads to the terminals from the harness and see if you get an alternating volate from 0v - 12V+. The voltage going from 0V to 12V means you're getting power for the turn signal as it turns on/off.

If you don't have that, then it's probably a fuse or broken wire somewhere.

If you see voltage, the next step is to test your corner indicator / LED cluster for electrical continuity.

This can be also done with a multi-meter. You're testing to see if there's a complete circuit amongst the LED's.

This link is has a good explanation of testing continuity:
http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/homem...inuitytest.php

If there is no continuity, you can probably take apart the cluster to see where the circuit is broken or buy a new one completely.

Good luck, report back with your findings!

Jonathan:

Thanks. Electrical issues have never ben my forte, but no time like the present to learn how to figure things out. Looks like I have a weekend project!

Did you ever get to the bottom of it? I'm having the same exact issue.
