I spoke with one person (and his mechanic) who was competing in the GTS3 class and from what I remember when seeing his M3 on the lift, it looked like he had racing front hub assemblies where the bearings were easily serviceable or at least that is what his mechanic mentioned. When I look back at his build thread, he writes in his mod list that he recently serviced the hub bearings, but does not mention if he had a different hub assembly or if he just services the stock wheel bearings. He was running a Brembo GT kit. I believe my initial question had to do with the knock back issue.
That's what it sounds like. I looked for high performance front bearings but wasn't able to find anything. I decided to purchase two new front bearings from FCP Euro. If this happens to turn into a yearly maintenance item, I'll take advantage of FCP Euro's lifetime warranty policy.

Thread revival!

I just purchased an E87 130i for daily duties and it has the BMW Performance 6 piston front calipers.

The 130i also came with the stock discs/rotors/pads/lines so I'll remove the BBK and fit the standard brakes.

Onto the important question - where can I purchase the caliper brackets to fit the BMW Performance 6-piston calipers to my E46 M3?

I understand I'll need CSL front discs (among some other miscellaneous hardware); that's not the problem. I just can't find where to purchase the relevant mounting hardware?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

Edit: I also have a pair of rear BMW Performance calipers aswell.

Mounting hardware is what I need!

Not sure if it's been discussed or not in the previous 20 pages, but these calipers aren't necessarily the best for performance driving. A friend of mine used his 135 for track use, and had to swap all of the pistons to stainless, change brake boots, etc. etc., and the color faded to brownish gold after the first few events.

When you have the calipers for free like member "Sifon", it worth the pistons, boots... upgrade.

Im not sure if this has been shared yet but twin line garage did a mini DIY video on the installation. He has a small channel. He's an enthusiast. Recently supercharged his e46 m3.

Video on 135i brakes

Video on 996 4 piston rears

BONUS: ZCP/CSL brakes on stock car conversion

He's on the forums maybe he will see this haha. Hi zach!

ALSO: You will need spacers if you don't have OEM 18's as discussed in the video

I have read these calipers are not the best for performance duties. If I'm honest, thee calipers are more for the bling factor as big calipers do look awesome. It will be nice to have increased stopping power, no doubt, however I rarely track the car. Maybe once a year.

I'll rebuild the calipers before putting them of the M3 anyway.

Whitehawk8 - Thanks for your input. I've seen Twinline Garage on youtube. Good info there.

Cheers

These calipers are pretty crap. I'd stick with stock, go the 911 conversion route, or get a full BBK. IMO these are a downgrade from any of the above.

True. Pistons are made from butter. It is some high-silicone metal, can't remember the name, but they seem to eat themselves up. Wouldn't recommend for track use or spirited driving. Stick with AP-racing or Brembo. Even the new brakes from BMW on the M4 don't impress let alone these from the 135i.
