Default Disabling DRLs

Does anyone know how to turn off the daytime running lights or disable them?

You have to go to the dealer and have them do it. If DRLs are law in your country, most dealers will take issue to turning them off.

This requires a configuration change on your car's computer. The dealer is actually enabling DRL for my E46 M as we speak

My old IS300 you can disconnect a plug to turn them off. I'm surprised that the computer needs to be reprogamed

The DRL is actually running the Highbeams at a lower wattage.

I could be mistaken but the IS300 has city lights/bulbs which are located in the highbeam lamps. These are separate from the highbeam bulb.

This is a dealer setting that is simply switched "on" or "off" in the computer when they have the car hooked up.

I like them just fine, and they do help to clear traffic a bit here in Germany. I just wish there was some sort of override switch offered, as DRLs make it impossible to sit in a running car (i.e. when waiting for someone in cold weather) without having some exterior lights on.

you can just unplug them, but you will get the warning lights on your dash.

when my cousin installed angel eyes, he just unplugged the drl because he didnt mind the warning lights on the dash.
