Default LSD & Groan is Eliminated by Figure 8's

I have a 2003 6sp with 120,000 miles. The car has poly bushings in the rear subframe which transmits noise from the LSD quite well. The LSD groans when I take tight/parking lot turns and am coasting (but not if I am accelerating or decelerating).

When the groaning from the LSD gets too bad, as suggested in other posts, I do a few 'figure 8's' and the groaning goes away totally for a while, and then slowly comes back. Strangely, 6 'figure 8's' are far more effective than doing 6 circles left followed by 6 circles to right.

Can someone explain to me what makes the groaning go away? Secondly, is this a sign that my differential is close to needing a rebuild or just that it is 'normal'?

I would like to know the answer to this also. My rear end is all tied together, welded, braced, poly bushings, etc. It sounds like I have a race transmission with straight cut gears. My diff was a pull from a car with 70k miles, but I wonder if that's true. Its so damn loud when coasting it's almost comical.

It's welded, has poly bushings, and sounds weird? How bizarre

LoL

I meant that I have a Vince bar welded in, not my diff. But I agree that my setup definitely adds nvh

Groan should go away for good if you use the OE fluid with FM booster.

Other noises... depends on how you have the diff mounted to the chassis.

What booster are you using?

I understand the booster makes the diff act slightly more as an open diff, correct? so if the noise doesn't bother you, it is best to not add it in.

I would suggest changing your fluid.
