Default Does this idle tick sound normal?

Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. The strange thing about this tick is that it fades in and out, and I really only hear when next to a wall or enclosed area. It's mainly when the oil is hot. I've had the car for a year and got it with 146,000 miles. Currently at 158,000. I just did a valve adjustment and none were out more than one shim size larger. Recent Blackstone analysis was perfect. I replaced rod bearings at 150,000 with OE. I did the full Besian Vanos treatment as soon as I got the car. Compression test is good. New plugs and coils. It may be normal and I'm just being overly paranoid. All opinions welcome! I will admit that I did not carefully look at each cam lobe and rocker arm while doing the valve adjustment.

Sounds normal to me. These engines are very noisy. You need to worry when it's more of a knocking sound either from the VANOS or deep within the motor.

Bump. I've noticed that if I put a load on the engine, like turning the steering wheel or putting it in gear and easing out on the clutch with the brake on, the noise stops. Any other suggestions?

Check the condition of the accessory drive belts...if the noise changes quality with steering input.

I usually grab my stethoscope and poke around. The injectors sure seem loud on these cars.
