Default Price too good to be true?

Hey everyone, quick question.

I usually browse craigslist in my area for any type of good car deals. Few days ago a 02' e46 m3 convertible, 2 owner, SMG, Phoenix yellow, with 28k miles showed up. It was listed for $20k. Fully loaded minus the premium 19inch wheels. After seeing it in person today, the car was very clean. Leather looked new, minor to no curb rash on the 18inch wheels, clear bra on car.

Only issues were a scrape on the front right splitter are, a faulty/punctured rearview mirror, and a missing M badge where the "SMG" icon is.

When asked if there were any issues that should be known, he hesitated but said no. Kind of concerning since when asked the lowest price, he said $18K.

Is this too good to be true for such low milage? Would I be able to sell this car for more than 18k?

Definitely plan on getting a PPI just to make sure if I do plan on pulling the trigger.

Thanks everyone.

+1. Get a PPI with a shop that knows the common E46 issues (subframe, vanos).

Good luck!

I would check the Carfax. If you have a buddy with internal access to BMW, I would check the maintenance history of the car. Make sure the mileage wasn't rolled back.. Doubt it, but plausible.

A PPI would be a good idea too. GL!

It sounds cheap.
But then the market is slow, perhaps he wants to sell quick.

As others have said - you really need a PPI check or info from BMW regarding the service history etc.

One extra thing I will say is my 'vert is for sale - (shameless plug) and I have all the service history, all the receipts for work done, nothing hidden and no scares for the new buyer - something this expensive warrants a bit of love and attention.

Agreed, I would expect "$20k-ish"

That's about the market price for convertibles; if that was a 6 speed coupe, you'd expect mid to high 20s
