Not sure how some of you aren't finding where to put the small o-ring. It goes right next to the white plastic split washer. It flattens out to fill its groove once installed and over time it holds that shape, and hardens up a bit. Mine also broke when removing it. Watch the ECS video, it shows you everything you need to know.

So when I was prying off the smaller oring I think i split the plastic washer that was next to it. The washer remains in place and I put the new orings on but should I be concerned about that plastic washer that is now split? What is the purpose of the plastic washer?

The white plastic washer is supposed to be split? So maybe I did not break it after all?

^ The part number for the filter includes the o-rings on ECS's website which also includes a video. Or you can purchase better seals from Beisan and clean your current filter with brake cleaner.
