Default Some Additional Rules / Guidelines About Tuning

This section is for open source tuning, I donít want to impose too many limits, but, we need to respect other peopleís intellectual property if we want these efforts to be lasting. So in that spirit, here are a couple rules for going forward:

This is the rule for the entire forum, but it deserves restating: Do not post, link to, or otherwise advocate piracy.

Do not post any binaries, calibrations, maps, or techniques from a tuned DME file without the tunerís permission. I donít care if itís technically legal or not, it wonít be tolerated here.

Do not directly post any leaked DAMOS/A2L files (e.g 52_V508.A2L) from BMW. You can find it almost anywhere else, and discussing it is fine. Let's just keep the actual file off these servers

Do not specifically discuss how to bypass the read-protection mechanisms employed by a few tuners recently. Of course some things we discuss will naturally also be methods to read out any binary, just donít go making posts where the primary focus is defeating these mechanisms.

Above all, use some common sense when posting here. You are of course allowed to share any of your own work, and we encourage you too. Keep things positive, and we won't run into any issues.

If you have any concerns about whether something is appropriate or not, feel free to PM me or one of the other moderators

Happy Tuning everyone, we've made great progress without stealing anyone's work, let's keep that going!
