Hard to say exact time, as I did it over a couple days so I could quadruple check everything, but probably 8 hours total?

Lightbulb

I think that it would be helpful to know any symptoms that result from loose cam gear bolts.

May I suggest the following additions to the template?:

Were there symptoms that made you suspect that you had loose cam bolts?
SES Light On?:
Fault Codes:
If you paid someone to do the work, how much did the labor cost?
Any complications after completing the bolt replacement procedure?

Thanks!

Intake bolts damaged: 6
Intake bolts sheared: 1/2 through like 4
Exhaust bolts damaged: 0
Exhaust bolts sheared: 0
Work performed by self/BMW/Indy: SELF (son)
Time spent on replacement (if by self): 5 days
Cost of replacement: around 75$
Symptoms (if any) prior to work: Eng rattle like bad valves or exhaust leak increasing worse for about a yr or so thank god we caught it. NO code were thrown. We narrowed issue down by this great M3forum and doing the check on the vanos for looseness.

BMW has a huge issue they are ignoring.
