Attached is a photo of the yellow sticker - it goes above the regular tire pressure sticker and below the door latch. It says "Use inflation pressure specified above up to 100 mph only" It then indicates that above 100 mph, the inflation pressure should be 41 front, 48 rear.

The fact that is says "specified above" leads me to believe that my stickers might be improperly placed. I would guess that the yellow 100 mph sticker belongs below the regular tire pressure sticker, not above it.

  • If you are wondering about whether or not to buy snow tires, please review the dozens of threads where people caused thousands of dollars of damage in a light snowfall at 10 mph.
  • If you are thinking about buying an M3 because they can now be found pre-owned fairly inexpensively, please review the threads explaining how expensive the maintenance is. Plan on spending $2,000 or more per year on routine maintenance.

A detailer did that much damage to the sticker? What happened?

A young kid working at an otherwise reputable detail shop got pretty overaggressive on my driver's door sill. He claimed the stickers "just came off". My VIN and tire pressure stickers were ripped and he only had parts of them. Oddly, the paint was fine. After a few passes with some compound, cleaner and clay all the adhessive was gone and it was a perfect painted finish - allbeit without the required stickers.

The detail shop made good on it, so no hard feelings.

Wow. Lucky he wasn't going nuts on your hood. To be applying that much pressure (or passing over that area enough to take the sticker off) while using a machine could have been catastrophic.

Glad they made good.

I noticed mine has lost half of the black color from a body shop. But the underlying white base is still there from the sticker. I will see if I too can get BMW to get me a replacement. thanks for the info

Good luck. It took me quite awhile to get all the parts to align. The hardest part was coordinating to be the the dealer the same time as the regional rep. I more or less got lucky that I randomly called and was able to immediately drive over (or it might have been the next day - don't quite remember). Either way, the rep doesn't usually schedule dealership visits and only comes once a month or so.

I assume having the sticker in place will make like a tiny bit easier if I ever decide to sell. To be honest, after seven years, I still don't see another car on the road I would prefer to drive on a daily basis.
