so i have a parts car with the full MKIV system. i wanted to pull the entire kit and install it into my car. yes i know way cheaper alternative android head units out there. I just like tearing cars apart i guess
![]() my car has HK factory system with CD53 unit. SES jumper present in the back and a factory Bluetooth TCU currently installed with bluetooth enabled for phone calls. instead of buying the navigation retrofit harness, is it possible to just reuse the original navi harness i pull from the donor car at all? i will get the retrofit harness if i must. i think its only around $180 but would be nice to save $180. i do see people selling original navigation entire harness from parts car on ebay but was curious why would they be selling those entire harness unless you can use them as retrofit harnesses possibly?

The nav harness is built into the main body/stereo harness, so you'd have to replace the entire thing.
Possible, but a huge PITA.

I’ve done it. I wouldn’t recommend it. The retrofit harness is worth the expense.
