Are you thinking of running meth or e85 etc? Or just straight pump and low boost?

E85 eventually. Gonna get her sorted and running on 93. Then E85 and enough boost to gag a donkey.

Lmao awesome. I’m tempted to do the same thing as you. My motor is pulled but I wanted to do rods and pistons too just to overbuild it. Now I’m just wanting to get it on the road so I was thinking basic stock refresh with head studs and cut ring gasket. Then when I have the money, strap a turbo on Switcg to e85

How many miles are on your car? I would suggest valve springs too if you’re up there mileage wise and have it apart already. The stock valves and everything else are pretty decent but the springs get tired eventually. Relatively easy thing to do if you don’t mind spending ~$600 on a supertech kit. Head studs and cut ring are great ideas. I got a copper spacer as well to bring down compression a bit for the turbo. If you are serious about going turbo may want to have a look at that. CES sells a combo kit for like $500 but if you email them they should give you a decent deal. That’s what I did at least. |

I also bought this tool. $50 and much easier to work around than traditional spring compressors. Just emailed the guy and he told me he had them ready to go.

That tool is pretty cool but is seems rather cobbled together for $50.
Either way yes when I started adding up forged internals I realized it was unreasonable for right now. I plan on running e85 with boost eventually so I want high compression so no spacer for me. Also that will allow me to drive the car with the refreshed motor N/A while I grab all the turbo stuff.

Good point. I wonder if I’d like to do flex eventually I should skip the copper spacer...

You would only be able to run about 5psi safely without e85 or a meth set up. But I’m sure even 5psi with a high compression engine would be plenty fun for awhile.
