I would want 1/8 inch clearance. The engine and trans move together so you don’t need much but I bet you could get it if you loosened the header bolts. I have installed a few E36 headers and manifolds and have drilled out the holes on a few of them, not to give more play but to get them on in the first place. You may need a tiny bit more play, but I would try loosening first to see if that gives you enough. And you might get space to grind the trans rib as an added or alternative measure. It’s no fun installing headers on these cars — I have installed 4 different headers and 3 turbo manifolds in my 99M3 in the past 10 years.

Yes, I think I knew I'd have to go back in and try to get it off the transmission. Just wanted someone to confirm it. Damn.

For the price of their product, this should fit without anyone having to go back multiple times.

This is similar to death. Lol.

I agree — this the premium priced product so it should fit. Hopefully it won’t be necessary to remove and drill out the holes.

Haha I hope he at least got them on the half price sale. I was considering it, now I'm very glad I didn't, because this is not my idea of fun.

Start a YouTube channel where you rage on car parts.

Not fun but quite a lot of learning. I REALLY wish I had pre-fit everything before the engine went back in the car. I'll never again assume something fits. I did get them on sale. But not 1/2 off. Not this past Christmas, but the one before that. They been sitting in my garage for a while.

I just test fitted the muffler. You would think that welding on a couple muffler hangers that well align with the stock mount would be relatively easy. But you would be wrong. This is pretty well known but annoying just the same. Clowns.

I'll chime in once mine arrives. I got the Euro muffler but still waiting on the S54 V1s -> E36 Muffler midsection to arrive. Hooray shipping delays...

I will say that all of the E46 parts I've dealt with have fit together very well.
