Default SuperSprint Euro exhaust system install grief

Having a hard time getting the SuperSprint Euro exhaust system to fit. The connection from the headers to the mid pipe is just not lining up (these are all SS components). I have one side with bolts in place (these are 2 bolts per side) but the second side will not cooperate. I can get one in but the second doesn't want to line up. Plus, there is about a paper width clearance from the headers to the engine at the closest point which limits how much twisting and the such. There is not a lot of room for movement.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Joe

Try loosening the three bolts on the other end of the pipe your struggling with. Might have to remove the two plates that hold up your exhaust so it will drop low enough to get to the bolt on top. This way you'll be able to line everything up.

If you mean the muffler, it is not installed. The mid pipe is hanging from the rubber hangers at the rear. The only thing I can loosen is the headers at the head and see if there is any "play" in the fit available. My recollection is that the header to manifold was a tight fit with no play.

Drill it out and make it fit.

You may need to loosen the headers enough that you can "rotate" them up or down. There is room to do this in the head side flange holes.

This is one reason why I dislike SS. The fitment on E36 parts was rough.

I was afraid of that. Yes, fitment is a bit rough. Even trying to cleanly route the rear O2 sensors is a pain. Can't wait until I get to the muffler.
Thanks.

Contrary to popular belief, the SS parts are not as perfect as forum wisdom would make them out to be. Not the first time i've heard of fitment issues.

Nor are they as nicely built as some think. They are an above average product.
