On my street car, I have an 80% tint because I wanted UV protection while retaining the tint-less look. Turned out great imo.
I would also go that route: very light tint mainly for UV. I don't daily the E46 so it was an easier decision. I believe my windshield has some sort of film so I kept that on to protect the dashboard, for now.

The garment steamer works great for removing the tint. I was hesitant for a long time until I could not stand looking at the purpleish bubbled mess any longer.
Took around 30min to remove the rear tint and two sides and left absolutely no residue but the steam did reveal the PO's shoddy glue job on the c pillar fabric.

OP- This journal is great and the car is looking good. Now I have to build a tire rack but i might use scrap titanium

Thanks! "Scrap titanium", hah! A slight upgrade from my 2x4s.

Small, pedestrian maintenance item: diff fluid change @ 126,700 miles.
Previous owner didn't change it and my records showed nothing.

To start, I recently upgraded to a 2nd floor jack and went with the Harbor Freight Snap-On clone. Solid piece of kit! Makes my steel/alum Arcan feel like Fisher Price!

A lift would be nice...

Decent reach but definitely not the low-profile version HF also sells.

Leveled on jack stands and fluid emptied.

Plugs replaced with new.
FYI: The drain and fill are the same part number and the online retailers sell the correct part with o-ring gasket. My local dealer had no clue what part to give me so I said screw it and ordered more parts online to get free shipping on diff plugs (dammit!).

Old vs. New Fluid
Got that liquid gold bottled up and ready to send back to FCP for the next fluid change.
