Default So BMW finally released S58. Thoughts?

Seems like a good mill. Time will tell, but I'm excited BMW still develops these great powerplants that run on dinosaur remnants.
I assume this is the motor that will power upcoming M3 and M4.

Sold my F80 after 8 months cause it was meh.

The G80 actually could be interesting with 3 possible models: Pure / Base / Competition and the optional 3rd pedal

It's exciting to see the development of the turbocharged inline-6. I really believe the I6 is one of the best layouts for a turbocharged setup, if not THE best. Things get messy for V-style turbo engines and I4s are just too small to make high levels of power reliably. I personally cant wait to see an electrically assisted turbo I6 with a huge turbo and electric motors to fill in the torque gap from the turbo lag (think of a 1000hp supra w/o turbo lag). Maybe the following M series will use such tech. I think MB is doing something similar already.

Yaaay for forged internals!

Boo for plastic valve cover, overly complex fuel system, and a wacky bespoke cooling system that's sure to fail.

Who on earth routed a huge rubber hose under the intake manifold? You just know that ten years from now, some poor soul at the track is going to be ripping out his massive induction system, intake manifold, and ECU so he can change a *stupid* leaky coupler on the block.
