Default BlancM3 - E46 M3 Street/Track Build

What's up peeps!
I'm making this thread to sort of document my journey with the (new to me) E46 M3.

A little backstory/history to my most recent purchase.
I've always been a huge fan of the E46 M3. Ever since I was a kid (21 now) I've dreamt of owning one. I've worked ever since I was 12, and saved up every penny I had to hopefully, one day, be able to afford one. About a year ago, I was fortunate enough to be in a position where I could make a big purchase. I was sure I wanted an E46 M3. After searching for the right one for a few weeks, and not finding one, my dad convinced me to start looking at E92 M3s instead. After a short while, I gave in to the idea, and started looking for one.
A short few days later, I found an Alpine White on Black DCT. Long story short, I got a PPI done and bought this car.

The first week of owning it was fun, but shortly thereafter, I started getting bored of it. So the mods began.
Aside from a few cosmetic modifications, I lowered the car on H&R lowering springs, Apex ARC-8 wheels with Hankook RS3 tires.

I drove the car for a couple of months and already got bored of it once again.
At this point, I knew I had made the wrong decision by buying something I didn't really want to begin with. So the car was up for sale and shortly after sold.

I idiotically, started looking for another E92 M3, but this time a 6MT. At the time I thought I was bored because of the DCT. So the search began. Started looking for another one with no luck.
Having had searched for a while for a 6MT, and not finding a good example, and being tired of seeing this particular M3 keep popping up that was local to me, I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. Yes DCT again lol. (Yes you may have seen pictures of this posted under a different username. I had to make a new one with a relevant name)

It was beautiful, and I fell in love with it. My initial thoughts were "it's perfect. Built exactly how I plan on building it".

Not much longer, I found myself in the same predicament as I was in a couple of months prior. Started getting bored because there wasn't anything major to do with the car. I made a few small cosmetic changes, but I wasn't happy.

Yet again, I found myself searching for another car. This time, it had to be an E46. There was no other way around it.
After actually looking for a week, I found one about an hour out of LA. I immediately called the guy. Drove down and saw the car. 2 days later we were at the bank and I was signing my life away lol

She's finally mine, and I couldn't be happier. Not once did this happen with either of my E92s. Every time I lock the doors and walk away, I can't help but look back at the car and smile like an idiot.

Here she is in her glory! Alpine White on Cinnamon. Yes 6MT finally! Lol
(Sorry about the bad quality iPhone pictures)

The car has been properly maintained. Have a folder worth of records which consist of Vanos rebuild, diff bolt replacement, brand new clutch, etc.
The car did come with a couple of mods done by the previous owner. Vorsteiner CSL bumper with modbargains splitter, and BC Racing BR Type coilovers.

Mod bug has already hit. I decided to swap over my TE37s from the E92 onto the E46.
I ordered a set of Nitto NT05 Tires. A couple of days later, they were ready to picked up. Unsurprisingly, they fit just fine in the big boy, AKA the E92 lol

Got them installed on the wheels and brought them home. Gave them a thorough wash, and slapped them on the car.

The wheels are 18x10.5 +22 rear, and 18x9.5 +22 front. Tires are 285/35/18 rear, and 265/35/18 front.
I also ordered ECS Tuning rear adjustable camber arms and installed them onto the car with the wheels.
The car was a little too low in the rear. So I rubbed pretty badly.

Once again I took the wheels off and adjusted the ride height, and went in for an alignment today at my buddy's shop. We worked on the car until 11:30, but we got it dialed in. -3.5 camber front, and -2.5 rear.

Finally the car runs great and no more rubbing in the rear. I do still want to get the rear fenders shaved for safe measures. However the front passenger side tire does still rub on the fender liner behind the bumper. Only on full left turn lock. So I gotta figure out what to do with that.

Thanks for reading this long post. Stay tuned for more updates

Congrats! I actually just came across your IG profile last night lol (richq on there). I was in the same boat as you a couple years ago... I was getting frustrated with not finding the right E46 and started looking at E92s. Almost got myself into one, but glad I didn't.

Can't wait to see how this journal comes along

There you are! When I saw you on Instagram, I knew I've seen your car on the forum, just couldn't remember your username on here.
Yeah E46 is just so much more of a "driver's" car IMHO. Glad you didn't either

Default MRG Titanium Wheel Stud Conversion Kit

I've ran these studs on my E92 M3, and I liked them.

I take my wheels on and off quite often whether for cleaning purposes or I swap wheels. So these make life much easier and look better IMHO.

Default Volk Racing TE37 Decals

I ordered a set of Volk TE37 decals last week, and they finally arrived today.
I'm gonna be going with a yellow theme on the car. So the original blue stickers just weren't cutting it.

Removing the stickers from the wheels was a PITA! It took me a good 2 hours to get the stickers off and clean the residue.

I think it looks much better now. Excuse the curb rash on my wheels they'll be fixed next week.
