Default 245/45/18 Help

I posted in the racing forum, maybe this will get more views...

Im running stock 18 rims on my e46. Im currently running 245/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear RE-71r for autocross.

My front tires are toast and wont make it the rest of the season(3 events).

I saw a deal on some barely used 245/45/18 re71r tires so I bid/bought them.

My question is, will I be able to use the 245/45/18 in combination with the 275/35/18 rears? This is approx .55 inches diameter difference. I run without traction control but will this put me in limp mode or something?

Better just to flip my fronts and sell the 245/45/18 tires that I bought?

Default Re: 245/45/18 Help

It should be completely fine.

Edit: I misread the thread. I'm not sure if a 245/45/18 would work.

Default Re: 245/45/18 Help

To follow up, they won’t fit. The extra 0.2255” won’t clear the strut assembly. I had to buy another set of 245/40/18 fronts. I never noticed but the clearance with those is REALLY tight.” But they(245/40/18) fit.
