Default Help. Laptop crashed while flashing DME

Hi, Long time reader, newby member.

I have done minor mods like euro hazard, DRL change, etc with the standard range of software tools. Even made 4 spare keys with AK90+. Recently read up on Martyn's SMG CSL better shifting mod so I had to jump on that. Purchased and excited to use it.

Using BMWFlash, I was able to do the partial 64kb read on the car and saved the .bin file. Clicked the CSL mod as well as inertial and saved the new .bin.
Problem is when I was flashing the .bin file back, my stupid laptop decided to reboot/blue screened me. (note: I did have a battery tendered so car voltage was good). Car now is that common crank but no start, no gear indicator, etc. Trying to reflash again, BMWFlash shows the dreaded "Requesting Information from DME" and stuck there. I reached out too Martyn and he suggested looking into MSSFlasher. Reached out to MSSFlasher but no reply yet.

Question is will MSSFlasher really work before I plunk down $$? What other alternative do I have to bring the DME back alive? Send it in (who's the most popular here?), and is the DME the only item to ship or do I also need to send the EWS so it syncs up? I'm new to this area and trying to read up but there seems to be a bunch of different info.

Perfect weather here in Seattle right now and the car is in the garage, please help Thanks in advance.

PS: Looks like because I have a 64kb .bin file, it's therefore a MSS54HP,
How is it different than a MSS54? You think the previous owner flashed the car before?

Does the DME respond on INPA?

Could try doing a flash via WINKPF first - just do a comfort mode update

Just buy MSSFlasher, it will sort your issue and allow you to reset the flash counter in future when required. Just stay away from that 'virginise' button.

Like to report back that I did finally get the MSSFlasher key and used it to recover my DME. Had to do it several times and then using the "slow" check box, it worked. Yea!!!!!! So relieved.

Thanks MartynT for the suggestion and software. I can feel the way the car shift differently and the match rev is fantastic.
