Every 5k for me. I think it is cheap insurance and it makes me feel better when I am driving hard.

Default Re: Oil Change Interval (Miles and Time)

I'm considering buying an M3, but am a little concerned about this particular one..

1200 Mile Service done at 2,088 Miles
1st Engine Oil Service at 10,506 Miles
Inspection 1 at 20,991 Miles
Oil Service done at 30,885 Miles
Inspection 2 at 41,629 Miles

You guys think I should stay away from this car?

Inspections occur at different mileages. I believe it is based upon gallons of gas consumed. So depending on freeway and city driving, someone may have their inspection earlier than another. It would be nice to know what exactly was done at those inspections, but that is just me. If it is from a private party, get a ppi done. Read the stickies to have the shop inspect those critical areas most. The more anal the previous owner was, usually the better. Good luck!

From what I've read Inspection 1 should be around 30k and Inspection 2 around 60k... these numbers are quite far off, not an indication of the car being driven very hard?

Unless the car was stuck in bump to bump traffic everyday, I think that is fine. BMW oil service/inspection is around every 15k miles. I am sure that many, including myself, would change it before that, but BMW isn't going recommend that interval and have the engine blow up.
