I wonder if not having that valve could cause the excessive leak values on the vanos tests that people with aftermarket cams have been having?

I have the Dinan/Schrick cams but I didn't ever check to make sure there was a valve in there. It wasn't in any of the install documentation provided either. hmmmm...

I don't see that happening unless its so bad that the VANOS isn't getting the oil volume it needs. The VANOS oil feed is earlier in the galley than this. Moreover all Schrick cams have this valve installed, it's only CAT that did this and not many people have made the switch to CAT yet.

Do you guys think this relief valve from the e39 m5 would work (#6)? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_2662

If anything, you get a non-plastic p/s pulley.

I'd be inclined to think no since the cross reference link only lists other S62 equipped cars. It may physically fit though but I wonder if the relief set point is different.

IMO, kind of a moot point since you can find used OE camshafts for pretty cheap if you need a spare part. I sold mine for $60 or something.

Also lists the group N S50b32. BMW sometimes does weird things with having parts available separately for some models and not for others even if the part is identical.
