Default ARP Head Studs with Engine in Car?

I'm planning on pulling my head this winter and want to upgrade to ARP head studs. Can the head be installed with studs while the engine is still in that car? Will the head interfere with the back of the engine bay? If so I'll stick with the OE bolts.

What benefit are you hoping to gain over the stock head bolts?

Head can be removed with the stock bolts while the engine is in the car.

Well, I figure while I'm in there might as well upgrade plus easier to torque.

I just did it recently. Can definitely be done. The back end can be a little tight though so I'd recommend having a second set of hands with you to help you get it in position easier. Also yeah, torquing process was much easier.

Definitely need a second set of hands as even an aluminum head is heavier than you'd think. Plus it's awkward leaning over the car holding the head.

What's wrong with your cyl head? These engines can go many miles. If you think you need a valve job, I would do a cyl leakage test.

At the shop I used to work at, platte forme ag, we had plenty of high hp engines with stock engines. Like our time attack car with 650whp. We never pulled the cyl head, longblock was bone stock

What aspect do you see as an upgrade? What benefit do you foresee over stock?

I did it with the engine in the car. It's been two years ago. No ill effects, and if you plan on forced induction, a must to prevent head gasket blow through.

I've always been under the impression that it's best to have the cylinders honed with the new studs installed, because of the increased clamping force. I believe I torqued mine to something like 105 ft-lbs.
