Awesome pictures, writeup and insights into DIY technique.
I just did this last weekend and wouldn't add a thing to your excellent documentary.

I'll go ahead and say that this is undoubtedly one of the best DIY write ups on the forum.
awesome job. I know where I'll be looking when the time comes for me to overhaul my system. + 1 to this becoming a sticky. |

I would add though that you don't really have to remove your MAF, you could always just unplug it and leave it in the intake while it's rotated out of the way. I cleaned mine before re-installing it, so I did remove it, but it's certainly not required. |

I have one thing to add though, I think it can help avoid a lot of the mess with draining fluid. If you have a fluid extractor, you can first remove the bleed screw and empty out the fluid from the elbow and expansion tank, then take the top plastic elbow off the radiator and stick the fluid extractor down the plastic part. It goes all the way down to the bottom and gets pretty much everything. I did this and this is all that dripped out of the car after the radiator was completely removed: ![]() ![]() I used to fear draining the fluid before... ![]() ![]() |
