Default restoration??

so i have a 1988 bmw m3 in blue paint, its getting restored to everything, oem paint(henna red). So my question is, the body ,has around 150xxx miles, but the original motor was blown, and buddy got the s14(80xxx miles) motor from someone in oklahoma in 2002(car been in garage since 6 months ago. so my question is , how much does this devalue the car, for not having original vin motor? Also i see a sport evo(2.5) for sale. If was it was devalue the car with not matching vin from the original motor, do you think i should invest into that motor?

What makes the motor blown? I'd say keep it to rebuild it. If you can get the other motor for a fair price then use it while you rebuild the blown motor(unless it has a window in the block).

Ditto the above. No reason not to rebuild unless there is unrepairable damage. I would scoop up the second engine regardless, assuming the price is fair. Becoming harder and harder to just blocks never mind full long blocks.
