Default Stock or Mostly Stock E30 M3 as an Investment?

Considering the skyrocketing prices of the E30 M3 right now, do you guys think it would be a worthwhile investment to put down, say 35k to 40k for a 120kish mileage car in "good" condition?

I don't plan on making any mods, wanting to keep it as original as possible. Would be a garage queen, maybe put 2-3k miles on it a year. Taking maintenance into account and holding it at least 5-10 years would be the plan. Have a great local BMW mechanic that owns one himself.

Honestly, if I was looking at an investment car right now. I would pick up a MB 190e 2.3-16. They have a cool story behind them, are becoming harder to come by but can still be had at a very reasonable price. Just my opinion.

^^^agreed.

i have to ask myself what is the ceiling of the E30 M3. In my opinion not many cars are good investments. it's only a good investment if you drive it and enjoy it. I have to say I do miss mine...

the porsche air-cooled market has now passed and now everything is elevated.

For BMW i'm surprised the 2002s are affordable, the E28 M5 was a good investment but has also started to climb, although still reasonable.

I just picked up a running 88 m3 with just under 130k miles. It's in fair shape. I also would love to MB 190

I'd agree, with 190e cosworth evo II's in the 200k + range and now importable, it's a pretty safe bet - AMG's also old link from last year
