Talking Rear view mirror replacement

I am looking to replace my rear view mirror since it started leaking from inside i can't see anything at night since its all blueish tinted looking.

I am not looking to get the oval mirror again i was going to see if there is a cheaper route since i don't really need the auto dimmer.

Is there a specific mirror that can directly work in our cars. I was going find one from regular e46 3 series, but if there is a better route that would help a lot i will be using Broadway mirror attachment as well.

Thanks in advance.

search "bmw rear mirror" on ebay. you can get one from the E9X, plug and play. you can even get one with a flat clone nose and homelink and/or compass.

you can also have it fixed for $99 at radar-mirror (Forum sponsor)

I just got an oval mirror from a 2006 M3 vert, plugged it in assuming it would be plug and play and all that.... NOPE.... burning smell and some smoke.... did not see that coming...

Verts have different wiring if I recall correctly. There's a thread on Fanatics I think.

I installed a mirror from a 2006 5 series. It was plug and play, well, kind of.
My vert originally had an oval mirror with auto dim and the clown nose. I installed a rectangular mirror with auto dim, clown nose AND home link. This is where it gets interesting. The verts do not come with home link AND more importantly, the receiver for the remote features of the key (locking and unlocking doors, etc...) is located INSIDE the rear view mirror in the verts as opposed to being in the headliner on the coupes.
The mirror was plug and play. When I plugged it in everything worked, the auto dim along with the home link. The only thing that required more attention was getting my remote features to work again. This is where the wiring between the verts and coupes differ. To make my remote features work again I had to remove the receiver board from the old oval mirror and identify the four wires that operated it. I traced the wires back to the connector and spliced into them up inside the trim above the mirror. Lastly, I relocated the receiver board up inside the trim and all is well. On a coupe, I would imagine it would be 100% plug and play.
Here's a mini DIY I wrote when I did it. http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=379230
